Welcome to the Chautauqua. Chautauqua??? What on earth does THAT mean? Well . . . since you asked . . . Popular in the late 19th, and early 20th, centuries, Chautauquas were the cultural forum of their day. Traveling lecturers (often speaking on controversial and thought provoking subjects) and musicians provided intellectual and cultural stimulation for thousands of people all over the country. Above all, the Chautauqua provided a space for ordinary people to come together and discuss relevant and interesting ideas, while being entertained by talented musicians and performers. This is our Chautauqua. I think we all know who the talented performer is. Enjoy.
