Quote: I just got back from the NM concert and I SANG WITH CLAY!!!! WOW...there really are no words!
Here's how it went:
I got there to audition around 5:45, and there were already tons of people out there who said that Jerome had already auditioned people. I decided to wait anyway though, because it was really early, and because I had a sign ("I came all the way from NYC for the chance to sing with Clay"), and I couldnt leave without giving it a try (I had wanted to audition in Albany but I got there too late then too!). So Jerome did come out again, to lead people in to the M&G, and so I went up to him with my sign open and let him read it. He laughed and told me to come find him inside when the M&G was over. BUT he ended up coming out again about 5 min. later, and let me audition, and a couple of other girls who came too late...he's so nice all the time! So I did it, and it was OK, but I wasnt expecting too much, because I was so nervous.
Between Ben Jelen's set and the beginning of Clay's, some guy came out and asked me what my seat number was, and I told him and he went away. I wasn't even sure it had anything to do with the singing because they were moving some of the seats around in some of the front rows. Then, during WYSYLM, there was a huge commotion on the other side of the row right behind me. Turns out THEY WERE LOOKING FOR ME!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! So they escorted me to the front during the dance, Kyrie, I Will Carry You, etc., where I had a wonderful spot to stand and watch and scream my head off, freaking out about what was coming next! Then right before it was going to happen, Jerome took me off to the side of the stage, and left me with one of the stagehands, who gave me the mic and explained a little about what was going on, and that Jerome would give us the cue and then I would walk up stage and go to him!!! OMG. So the time came and I went out, and it was a moment beyond all words!! He was so nice and wonderful, and amazingly beautiful (he had his glasses on too, which I love)!! He asked me where I was from, and I told him, and he was a little surprised that I came so far...he has no idea just how much some of us would give to be there with him all the time! So I mentioned that I lived there when I was a little kid (which is true), and then he asked me what I did and I told him that I was an editor but I recently quit my job to be an actor...so he mentioned little Jacob from Albany and how there was someone in the audience that give him a recording deal from the show. I stayed quiet on that one, partly out of extreme shock that I was standing there! So we sang Without You, and the look that he gave me through it all, OMG, it was so intense and so amazing!
There is nothing in this email that can describe how incredible it all was...and YES, I got 2 hugs, and he put his arm around me as soon as I came out on stage! The most amazing thing about him is that he is so normal and its just so natural to him to be so welcoming and to treat you like there's no one else there.
The one question I got asked more than anything else was, "what did he smell like?" He smelled clean and wonderful! It was so amazing! Of course I barely remember the rest of the actual concert, I was in so much shock! But it was absolutely a dream come true and I HOPE there is some Clack (my photos didn't come out)!!!
I'm still recovering and I can't wipe the dumb smile off my face!

Quote: Ok, here goes. What can I say that hasn't been said so far.
Firts of all if you don't know this already, I wouldn't have even been able to go if it hadn't been for Clayniac2. When she found out I wasn't going to a NAT and that I lived where she could pick me up, she asked me to go with her. To make a long story short, God worked all the details out for me to go with her.
We left on Monday afternoon and drove to Pueblo and then to Albuq, so we could see Clay perform in two concerts. I already wrote about the Pueblo concert. Now for the Alb. concert.
Friday morning we had breakfast and while we were eating we were able to give a S'Way away to our waitress. She was very tickled to get it. After Clayniac got her tickets to Raleigh, we headed for Alb. It took us 5 1/2 hours to get to Alb. It was a very beautiful drive although I did sleep some of it. We arrived at the Country Inn at around 4:15, meet up with some other Clayfans. Found out we were having a after concert party in the breakfast room.
The guy at the Inn gave us directions to the restruarant which ending up being the long way. Later we found a quicker way.
We arrived at the restraurant at about 5:15. It was kind of funny and I hope she doesn't mind that I tell it. When I got there and I told them who I was, I was told someone kept asking them if I had arrived yet. This person asked them about 5 times. Spartus I love you. It was so sweet of you to want to meet me. I meet the most amazing fans. I can't even begin to name everyone. Just know that you all made me feel loved. You know who you are. The party was a lot of fun. Didn't win anything but that is OK, because I was a winner just meeting everyone. Barb(bweber):hug2 gave me a Entertainment Weekly, the one magazine that I was never able to find. That touched my heart so much.
I was so nervous and excited that I could hardly eat. I think I might of ate a little salad, and some chicken. We left a little earlier from the party because we had forgotten Clayniac's cell phone. She was doing a cellcert with Sashntash.
We Clayniac, Codmag, her sister Mary and I arrived at the Alb. fair at around 6:50. Found our way to the venue and I took a picture of the Venue sign that had Clay Aiken on it. We got our tickets and we were all sitting together. Got in line to buy our soveiners. I won't say what all I bought, but lets just say enough. :laugh
We found our seats, but I couldn't sit still. Found Renee4clay, Spartus and we had a guy take our picture. It was so fun meeting other Clay fans. But they made us take our seats when Ben Jelen was about ready to perform. Again he was better than the night before, but I still feel like he lacks stage presence. Wonderful musican. He did do a little better getting the crowd bumped up for Clay, not that Clay needs us pumped up.
All I can say is as soon as the lights went down the noise level went up. The screaming had begun. The excitement kept rising as Clay come on stage. His presence on stage is just remarkable. He comes out with confidence as someone who has been doing this for years. I was just blown away by everything he did. As he came up from the stairs he looked magnificent. Glasses, blue shirt and gray pants, flip flops. I think he has the cutest toes. WTSHNN, PD, were awesome. The dancer he brought up while singing WYSYLM, was so cute. She was very enthusiastic. He kind of backed away from her. She did her own thing while dancing and Clay was jsut cracking up. He did give her the lei and a hug. Both nights I was really blown away when Clay sang IWCY leaning up against the wall. :thud :thud This was actually not one of my favorite songs but after seeing him perform this I have changed my mind. It is a beautiful song. Clay you can carry me anytime you want.:grin
Kyrie was great, couldn't help but like this song. The James Taylor set was unbelievable. I love how Clay just seems to love doing this with his singers. He seems to get a kick out of watching them and singing with them. Angela and Quiana just make Clay glow all over. Most of you already know of the sign about Angela, about back away from the Clayton. I loved his response. Of course his comment about Angela's top and how he might not be able to resist.:grin I forgot to mention in my Pueblo review how awesome Clay and Quiana sounded when they did COF. It was HOT!!!!! Clay was not as growly as he has been but it was still fantastic. Me like growly Clay.:tasty Well tonight they sang SSD. I had not heard the long note yet. I was completely blown away. He sounded and looked awesome when he sang that note. Just the look of pure confidence in hitting that note was unbelievable. Where does he get the stamina for it.
Moam is one of my favorite songs. Clay just owns this song, he has made it a true testimony to what a man is. He fits that bill to a T.
STO: makes me want to get up there with him and sing and dance, to bad I can't sing or dance very well. Or well a girl can dream.
ISY: Tonight I could actually see him and not have to look at the jumbotron. What can I say, but I was blown away again. He just had me in the palm of his hands. I could not take my eyes away from him. I was turned into a puddle of goo. Its a good thing I had no mistaken aiken to hold me up. Otherwise I think I would have :faint . Thanks nma. :hug2
I had really never heard of the song Rosanna till Clay started singing it. I love how he seems to have so much fun singing this song, that you just want to sing along with him
YWT: Again what can I say that hasn't been said about this song. Seeing Clay come up out of the stage, with his singers all in white and of course Clay in all white. He takes my breathe way. My heart and spirit cannot help but be touched by this song. The tears just flow and my heart is right there with him as he sings about his Lord. I wish I could write about this without crying but I can't. I have no words that can begin to describe what I feel. Just know that it does make me feel so loved.
TITN: It has all been said. The song that was with us from the beginning, and the sang that touches us all. The pictures that are shown are wonderful and they just draw you into his life. How can you not love this song and this young man. He is worth every penny spent.
Invisible. Makes me smile. You can tell the Clay continues to love to sing this song. But the best part this night was when he brought the young girl up for her first kiss.(even though it was just on the cheek) that young lady will never forget it. It also shows Clay's character. He just brings you in.
Solitaire: How does he do it night after night. Sing his heart out for the 90 minutes or more that he sings, and still can come back and sing his face off doing this song. Again the tears just flow. He touches us with his emoting and his actions. Again I could not take my eyes off of him. I was going to try and take a picture while he sang this. couldn't find my camera and decided the heck with. I will just capture him in my heart. Clay you are beautiful inside and out. Again it was over to soon. As he finished and walked over to where he was to exit and stood there bowing, smiling, waving and his salute to us, you knew you were in the presence of someone who will continure to grow, learn and get better and better. I was a basket case as I left that night. If it wasn't for the wonderful friends I had with me I probably would have needed one of these.:ambulance
A special :hug2 to bweber for helping me get from the concert out to the lobby. Without your help I would have still been there in a puddle of goo.
A cute story. As we were walking out some young girls stopped us to ask us what Thud meant. I would say maybe 12 -14 years old. I had the shirt on that Val. tsuiammommy made for be. It had Friends don't let friends THUD alone. Be safe....Thud responsibly. They said they followed me out reading my shirt. We of course told them this meant the sound you make when you hit the floor. They thought that was great and agreed with us.
Again I hope it wasn't to long. I'm still on :cloud9 and I have been having Clay withdrawels. Is there any known cure for this. If there is please tell me.
Love you all.:bighug

Quote: RE: the sign about Angela & Clay
The sign said: "Step away (or was it "Back away"?) from Angela & no one will get hurt."
My teenage girls who were there with me thought that the sign sounded like it should have been from a guy who liked Angela instead of a female Clay Fan. But Clay seemed to think it was pretty funny, although he did say that with that new top Angela had on, he might not be able to! Snarky guy!
There is so much that could be said about the concert, but pretty much all of it has been said! I haven't yet checked out the videos from it, but will shortly. The security was out in force, asking people to only use disposable cameras & not to use cell phones. They seemed pretty polite about it, but then seemed a bit miffed when they had to ask the same people over & over again not to violate their policies. I did not have a disposable camera, so I took only a few pictures & only when the security guy who was sitting nearly directly in front of me (we were on the front row), wasn't at his seat or was preoccupied by something else. He never asked me not to use my camera or I wouldn't have.
I'm sorry that I was not able to attend the pre-concert party or the post-concert PJ party. I took my 3 girls, ages 16,13,& 10, and this was a time for us to spend together. At the last concert they went to in Vegas, they worked so hard with me on the pre-concert party and brought their friends to help that we hardly got to enjoy the concert together. So, this was a time for us to enjoy Clay together! We did have a great time & were able to meet a few of you there. :)
I did speak to the 16 year old girl who got the kiss the next day at our hotel & she still seemed to be on Cloud 9!! She was so cute! I can only imagine what her day will be like at school tomorrow!! Her friend who was there with her had already started calling their other friends before they even left the colesium! They were from AZ.
All the words everyone else said to describe the concert were so true!! Clay was absolutely amazing!! There are no words to describe it. I was sitting directly in front of a speaker (how I wished I had a tape recorder!) and I had very little interference between his voice & my ears! I hardly even heard when people yelled out during his songs b/c all that interference was behind me & I was just totally concentrating on what was going on in front of me.
I was also sitting next to the Hawaiian lei ladies & they were awesome! They did the hula on MOAM & were just wonderful! They brought lots of goodies from Hawaii that they gave to Nick for the group, but I don't think Clay could enjoy most of them--chocolate & macadamian nuts!
If I can remember anything more in specific once I watch the videos, I will add that later! Thanks to all who made this a memorable experience, especially Becky, without whom we never would have gotten such awesome seats!!

Quote:Hi everyone. I came back from Albuquerque where I met lots of Claymates. It was so much fun and amazingly enough it felt like I have known them for a long time. I placed faces to the screen names.
I will not detail each and every song he sang. What other said about them are all so true. I'll write about my feelings and the joyful minutes of being there.
The concert was of course amazing. Clay continues to outdo himself. We had a bit of disappointment because he went directly to his bus after the last wave and a hand salute to his claymates. We all ran out to see if he comes out , all we saw was the tailend of the bus' red lights. He must be trying to catch a plane out of Albuquerque. Nevertheless, he gave us his all during the concert and we were happy. We just couldn't get enough of him. He has been so generous sharing himself beyond what he needed to. On stage, he was perfect, he was closing his eyes during JT group singing and waving his finger with the music and song. He was swaying with the music. He is so adorable. And he is soo beautiful.
He has a way about him when he is onstage. He looks at you like you're the only person in the arena full of people. He catches your eyes and holds them for 5 nanoseconds and you could feel he cares. And he does not miss a note. He sang to you alone for that 5 nanosecond. Gahhhhhh, he is to die for. :thud :thud :thud :thud :thud :thud :thud
YOU WERE THERE ..... I am in absolute awe by his powerful angelic voice. Like the pastor said , Clay gave it all up. The accolades belonged to God Who gave him the gift, Who gave him the talent and Who gave him his Claymates. And he defers them all to Him Who is always there.
Then he sang Solitaire. Oh my, I felt kinda of weak and whoozy when his first notes filled the stadium. :faint He performs that song like he is doing it for the first time. All the feelings and angst in the song you feel. When he was hitting that note in "Solitarie" he poured his heart out. And my heart with it. This performance is to be witnessed NOT heard alone. His voice, his body language, his facial ex-pression MUST be witnessed live.
Then he stood back, waiting for the lift to bring him down into it's belly. Before it did, he bowed twice, and saluted once. ............Then, he was gone.
My meager vocabulary can not decribe him. All that I know is this, I thank GOd for giving me my sense of hearing, my sense of sight, my sense of appreciating music and my being alive at this moment in time. Clay is not an ordinary man. God guides him.

Quote: My 1st Clay Concert, My Experience Hi Everyone, I will warn you that this might be a long post; ok it will be a long post. So feel free to skip or skim through my experience.
As soon as I found out that Clay was coming to Albuquerque I told my husband that I was going to a concert. That we would not go back home to El Paso, TX for Labor day weekend because Im going to the concert. He said ok (like he had a choice, he he he) I also asked my mother in law if she would baby sit my daughters (ages 3, 5, and 7) that day (She lives in El Paso so she also needs advance notice, since she would have to come up here) she said yes (ok she always says yes, I have a great mother in law).
I bought my tickets online, got the center 12th row, sure I would have like closer seats, but Im happy I had a good view. My seven- year old daughter also likes Clay and when she found out I was going to the concert and not taking her she was disappointed. I had a huge guilt trip. One radio station was giving away tickets at a new Shoe store, but by the time I got there they were gone. I was told they were going to be back on Thursday and they would have some more. So of course on Thursday I was there and got two free tickets. The day of the concert my sister was diving up form El Paso, so she would take my daughter to the concert. Keep in mind that my sister was coming to visit because of the fair not the concert.
Friday came dropped of my two daughters at school and picked up my friend. In the debate of the use of cameras I decided to leave mine at home and buy 2 disposable cameras. We got to the fair grounds and got a good parking spot. The 1st order of business was to go and get our tickets. We finally got our golden tickets. Second order of business was to go see my photographs that were on display. I had entered an amateur photo contest, did not win but my two of my three photos were displayed. We walked around the fair grounds for a while then we went to the Tingley area. We saw two ladies that were there. So I decided to ask if they had seen Clay they said no, but that he was there because his bus was there. As we walked away Ben Jelens bus was passing by. We decided to go get some lunch. We ate our lunch on a bench by Tingley. We were scoping out the bus area from a far. After a while we saw a group of fans by where the bus area was so we decided to go and check it out. While we inquired there, Ben Jelen came out passed by and someone yell at him and he turned and smiled. So he went to check out the fair. We decided it was time to go catch the bus at the park and ride. We were going to the pre concert party at Bucca. On our way we spotted Ben Jelen. We went up to him and I asked if they would mind if I took a picture of them. I also said it was ok if the did not want to. He said ok. The girl that was with him was really nice she said she would take a picture of us with him. We asked her what her name is. She told us but I forgot. I still want to tell her thanks. So then I asked him for his autograph and he gave it to me. He asked if we were there for the concert and we said yes. He told us to enjoy it. He was really nice and sweet. At first he seemed shy, or I might have caught him off guard. I was glad we went up to him. Both of them were really nice and sweet. I wish them the best. So we then went to catch the bus. We walked from Windrock to Bucca. The walk seemed worst that what it was.
We were at the party. I finally met Becky, CFCF, Spartus90,luvthatclay, and a few other nice ladies. We had a good time at the party. The ladies that were sitting in front of us left early and gave us their number for the door prizes. We promised to find them and give them their prize if they won. One lady won. So we left after the door prizes to catch the bus back to the fair grounds. I decided to leave the camera we had used in the car just in case security might take it away. I called my sister and hubby to make sure everything was arranged for my daughter. She did not know she would be going to the concert. It was a surprise. So we go in to Tingley.
Inside I bought my daughters what was promised and a few things for me. We went to find our seats. Then we went to find the lady that had won a door prize. Sorry, I forgot your name, but I did not forget your face. I gave her the keychain and went back to our seats. Spartus90 thank you for inviting us to the after concert party, but we could not go we were really tired. Ben Jelen came out and we like him, we might be a bit biased since he was nice to us. I sure loved that violin. In some of the reviews I have read, some people were hard on him. I cant say he was perfect he still seems a bit shy with the crowd but he is staring out so I wish him the best.
Finally Clay comes out. Wow, wow, wow. I was amazed. I few times I caught myself mouthing the word to the songs. Im not sure if I started to sing but if I did I apologize to the lady that was next to me. I snuck up front a couple of times to get better pictures, of course I got sent back after I got the pictures. When Clay started to talk about the passports I told my friend I should go up to Jerome and tell him that if they want to meet someone that comes from a place where they need a passport they should meet me. I saw Jerome a couple of times, then I got the nerve to go up to him. I had to follow him then I tapped him. As he turned around someone took a pic and the flash blinded me so I almost crashed into Jerome when he turned around. So I told him If they want to meet someone that comes from a place where they need a passport they should meet me. I was born in Mexico (Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua), raised in El Paso, TX just across the border form Juarez, and then I moved here (Albuquerque, NM). Im a real Mexican so then I just looked at and he just laughed he got a good chuckle out of it. I tried I had nothing to lose. Ok between you guys and me you dont really need a passport to go across the border to Juarez. I was stretching it but can you blame me? I also want to add that being raised in the USA, as soon as I became 18, I applied for citizenship, and became a USA citizen and registered voter. Anyway I went back to my seat until the concert ended. Clay sounded amazing, my ears are now yearning for an other concert. So now Im playing his CD, but still I want another concert. Ok so we went to find my sister and daughter. I asked my daughter is he liked her surprise. She said yes.
My sister said that my daughter said it was cool, that she had never seen Clay live. My sister told her that neither had she. My sister unlike me has gone to other artists concerts, and she said that now see why we all love Clay. She sees him in a new light. She was impressed. She also liked the crowd. She said the crowd seemed very loving to him and to each other.
After the concert we went out side and where the buses were. We were in the area but kept our distance. We were told Clay left. After a while the bus where Jacob was in left, the grounds. As it passed where we were at I yelled Come back again. We decided to go home. We were tired.
The rest of the weekend I found myself in Clay heaven with my ears yearning for another concert.
So Clay on your next tour please come back to Albuquerque, NM

Quote:From google.groups, a NM recap:
What a long, strange-yet wonderful-trip it's been...we are back at our campground in GA now, but not our usual site, as it is flooded. Sooooo, we have no satellite TV and no phone line, so I will attempt to upload this at the office. We had just a bit of water damage in the RV, but not too bad, considering!! Now we have Ivan to look forward to :-( We are staying put for this one!
The ABQ State Fair concert was absolutely worth the trip!!!!!! I'll try to abbreviate it to the high points... We enjoyed the fair for several hours before the concert, and were able to actually hear part of Clay's soundcheck when we were sniffing around the arena. Pretty cool!! Only 1 other lady was there with us. We met so many wonderful people at the concert and the next day at the airport!! One very nice man turned-out to be a lurker on here and knew us Skymuffins!! (Hello dream-theater!! Please post--we don't really bite!) We also happened to be chatting with the 16 yr old that was brought on stage for her 1st kiss, right before going into the venue. It was ironic that all 3 of us became part of the show!!!
EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Clay talked to me and Harrison!!! Clay noticed Harrison's "Clay Widower" shirt and asked him about it. He said his wife had better seats up front, and Clay shouted "Where is she?!!!" until everyone (including 12 yr old-acting me) pointed at me and he found me. He stood right there in front of me and said something about how gallant it was that Harrison let me have the better seat and he's not sure if he is good for relationships. Of course, the whole thing is a blur to me--after I gazed into those green eyes, I was a goner....
Of course that was the best part of the concert for me, but the whole thing was just awesome!! The crowd was just so energetic that night and Clay could really feel the love. He played a lot with the audience and sang his heart out. I still don't understand why we all go so crazy over a geeky guy, wearing glasses and god-awful flip flops with dress clothes, but we sure did!! He actually was barefoot for part of the show after he kicked them off during STO or Rosanna. It was a shortened set by 3 songs, but we didn't feel disappointed one bit. And then, when Clay pulled Trista up on stage for Invisible--it was just so sweet!! We saw her at the airport the next day and she was still floating on Cloud 9! All 3 of us were mini-celebrities with a little EEEEEEing crowd around us. Since we were stuck (as all FL airports closed that day), we talked to a bunch of fans for a few hours until we were able to go standby to Phoenix, where we stayed until Wed with Harrison's Dad.
Needless to say, we had an excellent time and Harrison really enjoyed the concert and was impressed with his more upbeat cover songs. I personally loved all of it, but especially TITN and Solitaire. Wow--what a voice that man has!!! My first row seat became 3rd row, since they inexplicably added rows A&B, but it turned-out just fine. I had a perfect view and was able to make all those people in front of me completely deaf from my screaming by the end of the concert! hee hee
Just had to share my experience! Hope I can get it to you soon!
