Interesting post on the RCA official site: a poster there (Lindsey, who happens to be a UNCC education student) won a radio contest to get to interview Clay (and someone else got the chance to interview Kelly) (sorry it's so long, but it's interesting--she posted some pics, too):
Okay, I'm going to do a brief summary because I have so much to do! I'm trying to get all my pictures up, so every one can see them! That's the exciting part! Well, first of all I went backstage to interview Clay and I went with another young girl, who was there to interview Kelly. We were taken into the coliseum around 3:00pm and as soon as we walked in you could hear Kelly rehearsing on stage. Clay and Kelly's security came and got us and took us to a large elevator in the back and we were taken to the press room. The radio station had brought us a lot of Clay and Kelly stuff we could get autographed and they also brought stuff to get signed for the station to give away for charity and stuff. We were all in there talking and hanging out...Then, the door flew open with Clay carrying Kelly in his arms laughing hysterically. It all took us by surprise and we couldn't even believe it was them. They walked by and shook every one's hands and we introduced ourselves. Kelly was very sweet and I got to meet her first. Then, I got to meet Clay and I told him I was from UNCC, so he was excited about that. They were very sweet and gracious and made sure to say "Well, it's great to meet you Lindsey!" I loved hearing Clay say that with his sweet southern voice. Then, we discussed how the interview was going to go. The funny thing was the recorder we used was a pen mic, so the mic looks like a pen. Clay was so amazed by it. He stared at it for awhile and thought it was so cool. We were talking about how 007 it was and he came up to me saying, "Did you see this!?" I just started laughing. We all stood in a small circle for the interview and me and Colby, who was interviewing Kelly went back and forth with the questions. Clay wanted to hold the pen mic the whole time, so he was controlling that. Every time a questions was being asked and answered it was his job to hold the pen mic up for us. It was pretty funny. The interview was pretty much us laughing the entire time! We asked about the tour and they told us it was a lot more fun than they thought it would be. Clay is 100% well now by the way and sounded great! He was in great spirits! <snip>
The interview turned out great! I'm hoping the radio station will put it on their site some time soon. I taped it from the radio, but I have no clue how to get it on the internet. Anyway, the other questions I asked was a good one about playing Scrabble, which was really funny becasue Clay won't play with Kelly any more because she is too competitive. It was so funny! Clay talked about being on American Idol this Wednesday, so he's in LA now and will be until the next show. We asked about what they will be doing after the tour. Kelly will be taking a month off and then she is almost done with her 2nd album, so that should be coming out real soon! Clay is working on going over seas to do some concerts and stuff and then he will be working on his Christmas album! He said he won't really have any free time until late in the summer. The most enjoyable part though had to be them talking about embarassing moments and Clay said his was when he was back getting a massage after Kelly's set...I laughed at him about getting a massage...haha! Anyway, he was talking about how he went on stage and his hair had gotten all messed up because of it and his hair looked like wings on the side of his head when he came out to do his duet with Kelly. He reinacted it for us rubbig his hands through his hair and looking seductively as he sang "Open Arms" to us. It was so funny! Clay and Kelly both pretty much looked like they rolled out of bed. haha! They had no make-up on, their hair wasn't done, or any thing. I thought they looked adorable! I loved Clay's shoes that he had on with a plaid design. He also wore them on Monday when I saw. I'll tell you about that in a few! Back to the story...Then, Clay had to sign some guitars and other stuff for charity, so he did that. Then, he signed a poster for me and we posed for a picture. He gave me a large hug and was just to sweet! He thanked me so much for the interview and told me it was great to meet you Lindsey. I hope you enjoy the show! Then, Clay did a couple promotion things for the radio station and he had to leave to go get ready for rehersal. Kelly stayed with us for a little bit chatting and also taping promotions. Then, we got into a discussion on piercings and nose rings. She signed a poster for me saying "Lindsey, Rock On!" and we posed for a picture. She was so sweet and even knew how to spell my name correctly. She said it's so great to meet you Lindsey and I hope you enjoy the show. Then, Kelly had to leave. We all hung out gathering our stuff together and had to wait for people to escort us out. I had brought a gift for Clay...just some nice stuff from UNC-Charlotte for him that I thought he'd like. Of course, with every thing going on, I forgot to hand it to him when he was there. So, we walked out of the press room and they told me I could give it to the event staff, but I knew that wouldn't get to Clay. We were walking to the elevator and some thing made me turn around and I saw the back of Clay as he was looking out of one of the rooms. I turned back yelled "Clay!" and walked towards him. He came out to where I was carrying his nice lap top in one of his arms and I told him I had forgotten to give this to him. He said "Oh, thank you so much!" He took the gifts and his lap top and started to walk back because we had to catch the elevator by that time. Then, we went outside in front of the coliseum and took pictures with all of our stuff. Okay! I still have pictures and more story of when I saw him on Monday again too, which was great because he knew who I was!
Okay...when I met Clay again at Krispy Kreme...He said "Well, it's great to see you again!" He was wearing the same cute plaid shoes from Saturday and he looked so wonderful! His hair was all gelled up and I loved what he was wearing! He looked so handsome! Luckily, I had blown up the picture from me meeting him backstage, which was of course the picture of us! He laughed at it and said "Oh Lord, it looks like I just woke up! You look good, but I don't know about me!" haha! It was so cute! He signed my picture..."Lindsey, Thanks for the interview! Clay Aiken". He also autograohed a colord picture of himself that they gave us there to get signed. It is a beautiful photograph and he signed it "Lindsey, All my Love- Clay Aiken" I was so excited! I then asked him if he liked the gifts I gave him. He siad "Yeah, I love them, except the shirt is a bit too big. I think it's Jerome's size". I started laughing ans said, "Oh well, you can wear it to bed then!" He stated laughing and said, "I think I'll do that." I then walked over with the group to get my picture taken with everyone and Clay. I kneeled down int he front and Clay came over and kneeled down in the middle. He was busy talking and laughing at the little kids and so was I. We were trying to get them posed for the picture, but it didn't work so well. They kept turning around and staring at him. haha! It was really cute! He kept saying, "Come here sweetheart." and I was rubbing the little kids back to ger her to turn back around for the camera. The pictures look great! You can see me and Clay smiling at the little girl! Well, check out the pics! I'll have more later!
